outside the box

we all have that yearning, and that itch visits us once in a while.  what we do with it, is totally up to us.
yesterday, i worked (make it 'played') with a group of enthused friends from naga city.  Bang organized the art trip/retreat, and invited fr. Jerome to be with the group, to make art.
and as it happened, our group, burikbutikan, was to have a meeting, so OsacnaB, Frank, Al, Cesar, Julius, Jof and Paulix, were there, too.  of course i do not wonder, i know how it ever happens that all the creative energies can be in one place at one time!  i so believe in this:  i attract like energies!  bwahahaha!
when i started my part in the retreat, and tried introducing painting to the group, i got all the so familiar outbursts, well, excuses, to be more blunt about it.
and i have to assure them:  art and creativity?  we all have that in our hearts, it is just a matter of consciously awakening it every now and then.  what with all the everyday mundane concerns we beset ourselves with?  these things just make us abandon the more necessary.

we all have that thing we want to do, but sometimes, all we have to do it on, is on a cardboard box.  we could point to the box and say, hey, that's a box.  i cannot do a thing with that.  and throw the box away.  and wait for something right and proper like paper to show up in your hands.  or, we could pull out our paints and brushes and get to work!
i do not know how big, ugly, or impossible it seems to you.  but i do know, you have one.  so, what will you do with it?  bwahahaha!

thank you for letting me live a life that sees that the view is best outside the box.  ilysm! ♥ ♥ ♥

painting is an art

wassily kandinsky

painting is an art.
and art is a power that should be aimed at developing the soul.
if art does not do this job, the abyss that separates us from god is left without a bridge.
the artist owes his talent to god and has to settle this debt.
to do this, he has to work hard, know that he is free in his art but not in his commitment to life.
everything he feels and thinks is part of the raw materials with which to improve the spiritual atmosphere around him.
beauty, whether in art or in a woman, cannot be empty, it has to be at service of humankind and the world.
the true work of art is born from the 'artist':  a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation.
it detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.
the artist is not a 'sunday child' for whom everything immediately succeeds.  he does not have the right to live without duty.  the task that is assigned to him is painful, it is a heavy cross for him to bear.

there is no must in art because art is free.
